UK Adds 15 New Roles to Shortage Occupation List (SOL)

The UK government has officially expanded its Shortage Occupation List under the Skilled Worker route. This update, effective August 5, 2025, allows more international candidates to qualify for UK sponsorship.

Newly Added Job Roles:

• Care Assistants & Support Workers
• Forklift & Warehouse Operators
• Restaurant Supervisors
• Civil Engineering Technicians
• Cleanroom Operators (for pharmaceutical plants)

Important Changes:

• Lower salary thresholds now apply to SOL jobs
• No IELTS needed if the job is below RQF level 6 (with proof of English usage at work)
• Faster CoS issuance under licensed sponsors
